Hello gardeners,
our passion flower vine (it is the Passiflora Caerulia) has now produced a very great many fruits, green and Victoria plum-sized at present, but Google tells me they will turn orange when they are fully ripe, and they are then edible, but very bland and uninteresting, almost flavourless. I hate to throw them all away, there are pounds and pounds of them, has anyone ever tried to make use of these fruits? Thanks for your suggestions...G
yup, In any passion fruit, its not the flesh but the gel round the seeds that has the flavour and different plants can have different levels of flavour so its worth cutting open one ripe one and tasting. If your fruits have tasty gel then you can make a fruit jelly with it, if they are bland then leave them to the wildlife.
I thanked you all for your answers some time ago, but it didn't appear, and you must think me very rude. So I thank you once again, I have decided to leave the fruits to fall into the shrubbery for the resident mice and voles. -G-
