Has anyone ever baked Yorkshire puddings in silicone bakeware?
I am thinking the pre warm up of the 'tin' could be done in the microwave

I only ever use silicone bakeware these days but I follow the same routine as I did before, ie I heat the oil in the hot oven before adding the mix.

Do you put the oil in the silicone bakeware and then in the oven before you add the mix?
I was thinking that to get the oil piping hot you could pop it in the microwave first
How do you think that would work
No no not in micro....could overheat and flash ! Treat the silicon bakeware just the same !
Scary Mary would never use a microwave...........

Ric: I wouldn't even contemplate this. If you do, stand by with fire blanket, extinguisher etc!
Why are you contemplating nuking the oil in the microwave when your oven is already on?

To be honest I'm not sure the puddings won't stick to this silicone
whatever you do, don't put oil in the microwave! Perhaps you've never seen a Christmas pudding on fire...!
Put a little oil in the silicone container, pop it in a very hot oven until its nearly smoking, then add the cold mix. It rises well and doesn't stick in the silicone.
Christmas puddings burst into flames because of the sugars, not the fats.
Anything which is more than half sugar should not be heated in the microwave for that reason.
Yes I know, atalanta - but it's still one of the scariest experiences that I've ever had in the kitchen.
