ok I may get suspended for this but its very annoying: The other day there was a post that I thought was derogatory and made light of someone's problem -it was in body and soul I think so not chatterbank nonsense. the derogatory remark was from a long standing member and also got a negative reply by a few members - I reported it but it was left up. Today I make a flippant comment about a post perhaps being spam, it got pointed out to me that it wasn't and I immediately provided an apology -and my answer was removed! I thought the reporting process was encouraged to avoid abuse of the site? what's the point when there is no rhyme or reason to it?

Don't worry about it ClaryS, it happens to us all - different mods, different opinions, you'll get used to it. You can also ask to have a post of your own removed if you think you've made a mistake.

Can't answer your question (and wouldn't dare even if I could) but fully understand why you may have thought the shoe thing was spam, I'd thought the same myself until I clicked on the profile. Maybe one mod's meat is another mod's poison :-)

didn't see either of these, but I don't know why yours was removed unless the flippancy was seriously out of place. But perhaps someone thought that, as you'd apologised for it, you wouldn't mind if it vanished?

The reporting business does produce some random results as it's administered by 700 Mods and a few Eds, none of whom have any communication with any of the others (well, the Eds may have a coffee together occasionally). But it seems to achieve the overall intention, to calm down tempers and incinerate trolls.

I can't see the slightest reason why anyone would suspend you for posting this.

Maybe the Ed didn't think the post by another ABer was out of line as it was just an opinion. You more or less accused someone of spamming when they weren't and posted pictures that included tins of spam.

Thanks for your jovial responses lol! the most annoying thing was my grovelling apology was removed too ;-/ I was just a tad quick off the mark, having read a couple of posts the other day that obviously were going to be replied by someone with a 'useful link' and these were deleted PDQ so I thought I'd get in on the act -oh well steep learning curve as they say, but if the OP of the shoe thread is listening in -sorry x
