some people do it's just called fish roe.
I do .Cod or herring roes on toast .Lovely :)
Cavier is overrated and overpriced !
I eat cod roe, caviar is horrible bitter stuff imo.

fish roe's lovely, both hard and soft roe. Caviar's vile.
prawn roe is nice too
I must admit to enjoying caviar on toast occasionally, I also love roe but haven't had it for years.
tried caviar a number of times, too salty, and not worth the money
Taramasalata is of course made from smoked cod's roe and is delicious if home-made. Don't bother with the pink supermarket gloop.
Mmm, never fancied Caviar, but did someone mention Cod Roe--Delish!
