I asked about changing a king size duvet cover on my own and was given a lot of good advice. Thank you.

My dilema this time is shelling / peeling hard boiled eggs. I never eat eggs but I am trying to get protein in to Mic. When I try to peel them I'm pulling great lumps out of them and it's taking ages. Is there an easy way?

Steep them in cold water after you have boiled them - that, IMO, makes it easier to take off the cold shells.
Whenever I've done them (not often I will admit). I put them in cold water (to stop the space between the white and yolk going black) and then gently roll them around to crack the shells - peels off easily enough then.
I always do them as soon as they are cooled down enough, if you put them in the fridge they tend to be a problem. Some suggest vinegar in the water when you boil them, never found any difference myself.
Put them into cold water as soon as they are done, Jeza. Pour out the boiling water and add cold to the saucepan. Leave them to cool.
Blimey, Jezza. How long do you cook them for? :(

I just tap mine on the edge of the sink and peel them under a running tap.
Do you need to cut your nails? ;)

I've tried all that but it doesn't seem to work.

I find eggs to be a bloody headwreck to be honest, sometimes they peel great and others, not so much. One of life's little irritants!
I put the hard boiled eggs in a tea towel, press them gently and roll them around until the shells have cracked all over then leave them to cool.
The shell will then come off attached to the membrane.
Possibly....

I will try that tomorrow Scrivens and let you know the outcome.
You've got me wondering when I have ever actually peeled boiled eggs now, no one here eats them. Gosh, maybe I've got some sort of senility where instead of forgetting things I am making up stuff I think I have done.
Never done Eggs mayo Sherr?
Simple but superb starter.
It's the membrane causing the problem by the sound of it - you need to make sure it's stuck to the shell, not the egg white.
Shoota, I don't eat eggs that look like eggs. Consequently, my children don't either.

Sher, as far as I remember I have never eaten eggs in any form, but Mic does. The hospital told me that lots of protein will help heal his bed sores. So eggs and sardines are high on the list of things I take for him to eat. Not together mind.
He really is going through the mill. On top of his stroke he has MRSA and pressure sores.
... er, what do they look like, then, sherr....?

Boxy, how do I do that?
Boxtops - I will use them as an ingredient in stuff but not fried, poached or boiled (don't personally eat scrambled either).
