What Is Better To Drink, Tea Or Coffee ?

i drink 6-8 coffees per day, i like tea also. my doctor has advised me to drink lots of water to keep my liver in good condition ( liver problems ) anyway would tea substitute drinking water ? does it flush out the liver ? coffee i have read will make me feel hungry as it sends blood sugar levels haywire, so have been told, i notice that im putting on belly / weight and i dont like it even though i dont eat much , i crave sweet things and pastries, sweets etc maybe this is connected to drinking too much caffiene ?
so mabe i need to stop coffee ( maybe one in morning ) and drink more tea ?

My doctor has told me to drink more water and less tea/coffee. I'm just the opposite and have gone off sweet things and much prefer savouries.
I was also advised not to drink much alcohol but as I'm TT, that doesn't affect me.

You are joking, aren't you, Piggynose? When I was at college I drank 30 mugs of coffee each day, with 3 really big heaped teaspoons of Nescafé in each mug. (i.e.the equivalent of 90 cups per day). I might have cut back these days but most people would probably still regard 6 to 8 cups as within the 'normal' range.
However, as you get older, caffeine isn't particularly good for your blood pressure, so tea might be a better choice of drink. (I now drink around 20 mugs of tea, and perhaps an occasional coffee, each day. And that's after a pharmacist suggested I cut back a bit!)

How is 'a cup of coffee' measured. I drink around 6/7 mugs a day, each mug with two teaspoons of coffee. Is that fourteen coffees? While not as much as Buenchico I honestly believe there is no evidence at all this does any harm. It does not keep me awake and yes, it can be counted as part of your liquid intake. I have regular kidney and liver checks for diabetes and both are perfect (at 70 years of age!). Doctors should know better than offer unfounded avice.

tea and coffee is mostly water so it will have some effect towards flushing the kidneys - any liquid that has no stimulant etc will help
when doctors say drink 2 litres of water a day - or whatever it is - they don't just mean add an extra 2 litres of plain water on top of what you normally drink each day ... they mean 2 litres or more of fluids - squash etc - any drink that is mostly water counts in that total.
