Mr Tilly always peels too many potatoes and I have a half saucepan of mashed potatoes left from last night's dinner. There's enough for another meal but we are having a salad tonight and don't want mash with that.

Will they be o.k. to eat tomorrow with a beef casserole? They are now in a bowl in the fridge.

I'm with Mr Roux, big wodge of butter, little splash of milk, dash of white pepper and a shake of salt, slash 'em with a knife and mash 'em with a masher until creamy smooth.....
I make them like you, Shoota. Mr Roux doesn't use seasoning though. I was surprised at that.
Oh Tilly you MUST try mash mixed with butter MMMM or try making hash browns ( delish with bacon & soss).

WR.
hi ummmm how was your meal? xx

I don't like creamy, smooth mash. I like my mash to have a bit of substance.
Hi Bernie...I answered on the Fluffs original thread :-)

Sorry, Ron but any recipe that requires me to grate onions is a no, no. It's bad enough slicing and chopping them.
ok thx
Mix in some mayo and chopped spring onions or a finely diced red onion - potato salad without the lumps. Scrummy.

I might try that next time, mrs. chappie. We are having new potatoes tonight.
It's very tasty, Tilly. I often do it with leftover mash.
Fry them in butter? No...fry them up, along with the other items, in bacon grease until they are slightly browned. The bacon grease adds a whole different taste: delicious.
Question Author
bacon grease?...................are you joking, stewey?
No kidding, Tilly. It's probably not too good for you, but it tastes great.
Tills, I think Stewey means fry your bacon and do your bubble in the fat in the pan - it's the way to go, honest
Question Author
I can't remember the last time I ate bacon grease. Probably when I was a child and my mum made me bacon sandwiches with the bread dipped in the fat at the bottom of the grill pan. They were divine!

Now, it's all no saturated fat!
Tilly, medical opinions are changing on saturated and unsaturated fats
how else are you supposed to do your fried bread then?
Yes, fried bread with HP sauce; I still have that once in a blue moon:)
Fried potato mash in bacon juice --gorgeous. Got to be bubble and squeak with added any left over veg or similiar.
