Due to a shopping misunderstanding, I now have far too many fresh chillies than I can use. Is there a way I can store them? What would you do with them?

chop and freeze
I don't do it but it seems freezing them is successful.

Drying them.

Depending on how many you have make some chilli jam, lovely smeared on before the cheese when making cheese on toast.
I freeze mine if i have too many. But, as woofgang says, chop them first. I once froze a pack of whole red chillies and when i defrosted them, i discovered that the seeds had turned black.
I freeze chillies whole with no problems - just take them out as and when, rinse under hot tap and they're defrosted.
Agree with Diddlydfo, except no need to defrost. They slice or chop very easily with a sharp knife while still frozen.
I pickle my chillies.

Wow, thanks all. I think I'll freeze them.

My son's neighbour makes chilli jam and always gives us a jar; yes I agree it's lush. I LOVE t with a nice piece of Stilton.
I do the same as heathfield. We grow them every year so there are always loads in the freezer.
Am just wondering how you can have a 'shopping misunderstanding'
Question Author
Well, I said casually "oo I must remember we need chillies". So OH bought some, but so did I, and then I realised that we did indeed have plenty in the fridge! Shopping misunderstanding!
