Revolting Ready Meals!

I have a throat lined with barbed wired and am coughing like a good 'un, and I'm home alone.

Cooking for just for me is not filling my heart with joy while I'm feeling grim so I picked up a ready meal.

As my throat is sore anything abrasive doesn't appeal. I had a fancy for spinach & ricotta cannelloni......what a mistake.

Once I'd got it onto the plate it looked like a plate of sick, hmmm appetising.

I have been unable to discern any particular flavours.

The overwhelming experience has been of eating raw flour in the cheese sauce.

In future I will make sure I freeze the odd single portion of home cooked food, supermarket stuff is duff!

I'm in two minds wether I should send a grumble to the supermarket or just accept that ready meals are pants?

scrabbles through bin for crisp packet

Arksided, they also ask you to upload an image - that's not what I had in mind ;)

Tsk Vodka!

I think it was all the worse because I actually fancied spinach & ricotta cannelloni but couldn't face making it for one. The ready meal version was beyond revolting.

I think I might well drop them a line because it wasn't just not to my liking it definitely tasted of raw flour and that is a quality issue rather than a subjective opinion of the overall dish.
tasted of raw flour.........maybe not cooked enough ?

That's my point Anne, the flour should have been cooked out in the production phase.
We got a couple from M&S like that as we hadn't time to cook. Raw flour and vomit. Ended up with egg on toast.
I quite like Birds Eye chicken supreme and a few M&S noodle types.
my experience of ready meals ( yes my name is anne and I eat ready meals) :) is best cooked in a microwave.
I tried a couple of ready meals over the years, dreadful tiny little meals, Never again, I would much rather spend the time and cook myself a real meal.
ready meals are IMO not suitable for men,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i know you RATTER would rather munch on a piece of raw steak ! hi carra :)

I don't have a microwave and wanted an all in meal that could be whacked in the oven, whilst I languished on the sofa coughing and spluttering.

I'm hoping I feel somewhat perkier tomorrow because there is no way I can eat that *** again :-(
Get some Heinz tomato soup in, you're never too ill to eat that.
tbh, Eccles, I've always thought any spinach and ricotta cannelloni is carp at the best of times, you'd be better off with eggs on toast..

which ain't helpful
As far as ready meals are concerned, Waitrose are on a par with Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda. The only difference is that Waitrose are very good at telling the consumers that their products are superior and the consumers believe that. IMO, the only half decent ready meals are from M&S and they don`t play up their food because they don`t need to.

It may well be the tomato soup route, I was even eyeing it up in the supermarket today.

I'm now wishing I'd put some in my basket as it would save me going out tomorrow......I really do feel crappy and look even worse :-(
take something out the freezer, lie on the couch, drink lots of fluids. and don't look in the mirror until you feel better. :)
If you're going to the shops get some Ready Brek (if they still make) doesn't taste or smell if anything so ideal for a cold. Actually fancy some myself.
I hope you feel a bit better tomorrow Eccles. What about a jacket spud with cheese and beans? Easy and comforting.

Send a complaint to the supermarket. You never know, you might get a voucher.
I once bought a one pound frozen meal, thinking "how bad can it be?" It was terrible. Like pulverised cardboard.
