Milk Use By Dates

Can anyone tell me why milk which is delivered by the milkman has a use by date of no more than two or three days, whereas milk bought in the supermarket can have a use by date of seven or more days.Both are presumably pasteurised.

One reason could be that delivered milk is not as fastidiously refrigerated from dairy to your doorstep as from dairy to chilled supermarket cabinet.

i thibk 30 minute after flushes is much useful.

People who have milk delivered get a fresh delivery every day so they don't need a long shelf life.

That's an interesting question, I expect supermarkets store it at much lower temperature. I get milk delivered (just to support the local dairy) however it gets left just after midnight and stays outside all night. In the summer it's a problem. I've certainly thrown more off milk away than when we used to get it at supermarket.
