I have some male friends who come over to my house to work sometimes. The meetings often go on and on, and I have to offer them food. I am not good at this, as I'm only used to feeding myself. They are not fussy and very grateful for anything, and happy to help/cook. I'm looking for ideas of recipes I can make which are quick, easy, filling etc- nothing that involves too much expense or effort! Any ideas gratefully received!

what about a big pot of stew? you can get stewing beef pretty cheaply and bulk it out with veg. if you have a slow cooker you can bung it all in that, then all you need is bread and bowls,

you could also do chilli/curry etc
If you don't want to cook, Asda do a fab meal deal (one main, one side and on desert that will feed a family of 4) all for £6.50.
We had it last night and chose: A huge tray of hearty Chicken stew with dumplings, gratin potatoes and a vanilla cheesecake. It was lovely! :-)
Cook a load of mince (with onions and mushrooms.
Add a dollop or 3 of tomato puree/pasatta.
Boil a load of pasta.
Put mince in oven dish, pop the pasta on top.
A cheese sauce on top would be good too.
Bung in the oven until all warmed through, service with garlic bread/crusty bread.
The way to a mans heart is PIE!!!
If they're "not fussy", try the Basil Fawlty option - get a trough and fill it with baked beans LOL.
Basic tomato space (can e made in advance and frozen), chopped smoked sausage (the sort that's all ready cooked - they keep for ages) and pasta - could top with cheese and brown under the grill. Easy, cheap and filling.
Sandwiches are easy enough. If you feel you should cook; a pot of rice and a pot of mince with beans & chillies maybe ?
I think carbs are whats needed here
Potatoes (jacket or wedgies) Pastry (pies) and rice (chilli)
That will fill them up and keep them happy
Also don't forget chillies - add them to everything - men like that
Will you marry me ricor? :-)

Ooh yes they also said they don't like spicy things!
Fry a load of sausages. Drain them from the fat and put in a deep dish and cover with baked beans and a shake of Lee & Perrins. Put the dish on table and let them help themselves. Serve with hearty chunks of French bread.
I will Carrust ;_))

Are you rich?
Scarlett - what kind of men (or women for that matter) don't like spicy food?
