What A Waste!

Anyone tried to melt a bar of Galaxy milk chocolate to use for topping a cake?
First I tried to melt it just for a very short time in the microwave, only half seemed to have melted so I took it out and stirred it to melt the rest and couldn't believe my eyes - it went all peculiar, a gritty texture, not smooth at all! Assuming I had overcooked it, I went back to the old method of melting it in a basin over hot water and blow me - it happened again! Luckily I had some rice krispies so can use it for children's cakes (but even they haven't set properly!)
I usually use Cadburys for coating chocolate logs at Christmas so I know I'm not doing anything wrong - all I can think is that Galaxy cannot be used in this melted way. Back to Cadburys from now on!!!.
I know you can use chocolate especially formulated for cooking but we don't like the taste.

//ah i see you did that, perhaps the first method broke down the constituency separated the ingredients//
Emmie, I tried a second bar and a half (used and wasted 3 bars in total!!!!) by the basin over hot water method. I didn't try to reconstitute the first after the disaster in the microwave . Actually I finally did manage to spread it over the cake in a fashion, very rough but I forked a pattern on it, added some magic stars decoration and although not quite set it doesn't look too bad, maybe people will think it's sort of chocolate butter cream LOL ;)
