Slight oak flavours (from 3 years in oak) along with black cherry and blackberry flavours (bottle says blackcurrant but I tasted blackberry) Not bad at all and very good for the price. I don`t tend to stock up the wine rack but if I did, I would definitely buy a few of these.
It's a good price for a wine you don't see all that often in the UK - it's lovely with cheese and/or snacky nibbles.
I think the description sells it a bit short - makes it sound very lightweight, when in fact it's got a good solid mouthful of flavour - and yes, a tiny hint of an apple aftertaste.
Something I have noticed lately is that wines are better value at the local corner shop than in the supermarket. I saw Casillero del Diablo Carmenere at the local shop for 2 for £9.99 (full price £5.99). It`s about £8 in Sainsburys. Not only that but the local corner shops tend to keep their white wines in a chiller cabinet which the big supermarkets don`t do.
