Burning Itching Lips

Have had a problem with my lips for 2 weeks now. I keep having an itch and my lips have a burning sensation If I apply cold water or ice it helps phoned my GP and told the receptionist and they gave me a cold sore cream when I do not even have one. It got so bad that I had to got to A&E and the doctor said you have no cold sore and he just said keep them moist so have tried Vaseline and Lyspyl but as soon as I start eating and if the food is chilli the lips start to itch the inside of my lips are slightly red but no ulcers. Can anyone advise?

Have you tried a trigger diary or anti-histamine in case it is some kind of allergy?

I have oral allergy syndrome and have a reaction to a number of things which causes my lips and the inside of my mouth to go funny.

Eve, No trigger diary yet but need to make another appointment and get some blood tests done. I am alergic to bananas so keep away from them.

My sister gets this, as Eve says. Try antihistamine?

There are groups of things which can be linked to certain allergies.

I had a mixture of blood tests and pinprick tests, I was tested for a load of different things, mainly pollen/trees etc..., fruits, nuts, latex and some animals.

I would buy some Clarityn allergy tablets if I were you.

Go to the chemist, show it to the pharmacist - they'll be able to help (even if they say you need a GP appointment).

I presume that you are not taking any other medication.

It sounds like a contact allergy.....avoid chilli which is an irritant.

Anthisan or phenergan cream applied to the lips should have an immediate effect OR 1% hydrocortisone cream.

Took some anti histamine tablets and felt much better like it was never even there but can feel it comming back today if it does going to see my GP or the pharmacy.

Does this happen anywhere in particular either in the house or outside?

Oh you have allergy from eating spicy food, try to keep your lip moisturized with lip balm or before going to sleep apply milk cream which help your lips to make smooth and soft.
