I've been invited to the Battle Prom at Ragley by someone I like and want ideas for a nice posh picnic please including wine / champagne. It's only for two people so it can be as varied as you like, both happy meat and fish eaters, no allergies as far as I'm aware. Thanx in advanx lol :)

We saw the battle proms at Hatfield house a couple of years ago, they were truly magnificent...and very, very wet :( Whatever you decide to take in terms of food, I'd highly recommend a couple of large brollies and a waterproof. We also took a couple of small, lightweight folding stools which were invaluable as it saved us sitting on the wet grass, the...

well what is post for one person would be a nightmare for someone else. If you want to please the person who invited you then what are their absolute favourite things?

This was Ratty's in Wind in the Willows.:-) Is that posh enough?

I don't know him that well Woof to know is the slight problem, but he's older and posher than me so I'm guessing that lovely as they are cold beans out of the tin and a packet of jaffa cakes are probably not gonna do it :)

That's a powerful posh sandwich Tilly :)
I hope you have a posh wicker picnic basket to take with you.One of the ones with proper plates, napkins and cutlery. A Sainsbury's carrier bag and tupperware containers will not do.
I thought you were 15?
Never been to a "Battle Prom" or any other Prom, but aged 16 inviting an "upmarket" intelligent girl like you......then it would have been.....

2 tickets for the local repertory production....ice cream at half time....a fumble to hold hands when the lights were dimmed.
Gentle walk home, through the playing fields and a snog behind the pavilion, followed by a Fish and Chip supper with bread and butter and a cup of tea thrown in.

I know.....it doesn't help your situation.................;-)
To be serious.

Game pie, a variety of cheeses, salad, proper french bread, cold meat, strawberries, cream.

Might not be posh but I'd enjoy it.

Yeah I'm going to steal my mother's picnic basket, she's got a really nice one with champagne flutes and all that nonsense.

16 Zacs.

Sqad...honestly ;-/

I think you might be right actually Tilly, wholesome and simple, although it would be useful to come off as a domestic Goddess, you can't go wrong with anything on your list. I'd certainly enjoy it too:)
kvali....that was for the "special" woman..........I daren't give a resume for the "slappers."...........;-)
Question Author
...and how many of em did actually slap you Sqad, is that why they're called 'slappers' ? :)
Oh right. Well, you go steady. There's been many an unfortunate occurrence with young ladies who've consumed champagne!
I daren't give a resume for the "slappers."...........;-)

Alcohol, a blanket and a young lady, what else is needed.
Kval, don't forget to say, 'Now, pitch in, old fellow!'

Question Author
I'd be more worried about him Zac;-) but seriously I never drink to excess I don't like to be that out of control, and there's nothing worse than people when they're hammer drunk, plus it squiggles my sugar levels if I drink too much :/
No kval, DONT say that.
Zacs, that's what Ratty said to Mole.
