Following on from Jeza's bacon sarny thread, I wondered if anyone likes bacon with the rind left on? Hubby will only eat rinded bacon (coming from a farming family) and I find it increasingly difficult to get it with rind on from any supermarket now. Even tried a local butchers who said there is no call for it now as most people prefer rindless. Hubby says it is more tasty with rind on, what do you think and anyone know a supermarket chain who sells back bacon (not smoked) with rind on please?

I'll eat it with the rind on ONLY if it's done so well that I can almost snap it!
If you are in a rural area look for a Farm Shop.

The butchers counter at our local huge Tesco does bacon by the slice.
When I was a young un I would go to Redmans a shop where you could choose the roll of bacon and when placed in the bacon slicer you could choose how thick/thin you wanted it cut. I would ask for 8 slices number 4 cut. This was Saturday tea along with sausages, tomatoes and a fried egg. I miss the choice, and yes it did have the rind on, as kids we ate that too.

Thanks - tried Tescos - no joy! Farm shop in a nearby village but still 20-25 mins drive away.
I have to buy the bacon with rind on, which annoys me greatly because I cut it all off before grilling it, but MrAsk insists on rind-on bacon. I've tried leaving it on hoping he'd get fed up of it but he doesn't complain. I get mine from Asda, Asda's Smartprice pre-wrapped Back bacon.
Must be rind on. The birds love the cooked rind in winter. (If there's any left!)

Thanks AYG, will try Asda when next I pass one - but 10 miles away. Until recently Morrisons used to do one in their basics range but not had any for a month now so assume its discontinued.
I love it with the rind on, although it is more difficult to get now. Agree with Mr Ann, it's much more tasty.
No problem getting bacon with rind round here, but not in supermarket prepacks.

I hardly eat bacon mainly due to being on a permanent diet! but very occasionally I do succumb and I like my bacon really so crisp so it crumbles, almost burnt to a frazzle! Hubby is just the opposite, he likes his "rare" - ugh!
It annoys me that the rind is stolen before the bacon sold these days. It is a necessary part of the bacon culinary delight. We are being short changed as they all seem to remove it.

And "hubby" clearly has good taste. Whilst crispy bacon is ok, there is nothing to beat the bacon just cooked, soft & delicious.

A bacon sarnie has to have brown sauce on though - agree?
No, sorry I don't. I'm not saying sauces of various colours aren't pleasant but they detract from the bacon flavour. It should be bacon alone. If in the mood one could add fried (or grilled if you must be healthy, although that can dry ingredients) tomatoes or egg, maybe mushrooms, but they aren't necessary.
Hmm that Horizon programme on now would put one off these sarnies though.
bacon sarnie, rind on, splash of Worcester sauce, mug of strong tea, who needs sex.
Bacon roll, with rind done crispy (find streaky bacon best) tomato sauce one side, brown the other - wow,my dingers are donging and it's only 11 a.m
I remember as a kid regarding the bacon rind as the best bit - even snapping up that left by parents.
If we ever get rind, the cats have first say in eating it :-)
On the same subject, ever tried finding a pork chop with the kidney in it?
