I'm getting conflicting advice about this.
On average, I reckon I drink anywhere between 10 and 20 cups of black tea (Typhoo) a day.
Some people are saying it's too much caffeine.
Some are saying tea is a diuretic.
Some are saying, drink it by the gallon - it's good for you.
Who's right ??
Do you get headaches or insomnia? Do you use sugar? Tea is a mild diuretic but that shouldn't be a problem. Tea is neither particularly good or bad for you.
One of the reasons I'm asking is, I've recently started getting mild headaches and I NEVER get headaches :(
I haven't changed my tea (always drink Typhoo) and I haven't changed how much I drink. I take 1 spoon of sugar in my tea, although I have considered using saccharin instead.
I'm just wondering where these headaches are coming from .......
A chemist friend reckons that tea has more caffeine than coffee. 20seems a lot
so could you replace the odd cuppa with warm water- you'll sure enjoy the next one more. Medically tea is good for you I believe. It was said to help the crowded cotton workers in the Industrial Revolution overcome sickness via its antioxidants and mildly antiseptic properties. Enjoy!
To be honest, 20 cups is prob a bit of an exaggeration, although I might be near that number on a long day.
It's more likely nearer to be 10, maybe 15 at the most. I put 20, as I might drink this much on the odd day and I'm wondering where the cut off point is, if indeed there is one ??
You can get anything from mild headaches to Migraines (If you don't suffer from Migraines then you DON'T want to start - take it from someone who knows) from over-hydrating. I think it's 8 glasses of water a day, to stay properly hydrated, which I believe equates to 2 litres.
I hate tea. Haven't drunk it since 2002 when my mother died. I had to drink it when I went round to see her because she didn't believe I loathed it. "What do you mean you don't like tea? You're English!"

Gradually switch to the decaf tea bags, youll feel much better for it. I never drink any other type now. I dont eat a lot of sugary things normally but if i have something very sweet it always gives me a headache too., so i think it could be all the sugar that is giving you the headaches.
Well Stephen .... that deserves best answer lol and I've just measured my TEAcups - they hold 300ml - just an average sized cup in my opinion .....
It might be time to start using saccharin and see how that goes :(
