Next weekend, I will be making mince pies, sausage rolls, lemon curd, apple sauce, and cheese and spinach pinwheels to load up the freezer for Christmas. I will also be cooking my veg for Christmas dinner (also going in the freezer) so I don't have to do any faffing on the big day. Im then going to wrap my remaining presents, put the Christmas decorations up and write my Christmas cards. That's next weekend. This weekend? I'm doing absolutely nothing ha ha
We have carrots and swedes mashed together (we all love it) and sprouts (some of us love them ha ha). The carrots and swede are cooked completely - the don't taste any different when defrosted. The sprouts will be mostly cooked then just finished off in the microwave (apart from hubby's - his have been on since August as he likes his cooked to death). The pigs in blankets were made last week by my little grandson (aged 3) who referred to them as blankets and pigs (Aahhh!)
Cards all written and stamped and they will be posted tomorrow. Pressies all wrapped. Just got to the "big day" over with. I'll be glad when it's all over. I'm very much a bah humbug misery guts !
Lynda.....were I as organised as you my family would think the fairies had swapped their mother.....I'm usually still icing my cake on Boxing Day....and looking at a pile of unposted Christmas cards..........☺
What Are You Doing Next Weekend?
--------------
My little sis is coming up for the weekend from Brum and is staying with my brother so we are all having a get together because she is going to Oz for Crimbo. Not seen her for some 8 months and she's split with her fella of 8!years since I saw her last so it'll be a bit raw at first.
Young Chill can't wait to see his fave auntie, we'll have a take-out Friday night then hit the town on Saturday. It'll be a heavy one but we only see each other 2/3 times a year so we'll make up for it no doubt.
Yes, I'm looking forward to it. I love Christmas, although I'm not too keen on it in October. I just came back from Tenerife last week, webbo, say hello to the place for me and keep a chair warm for me in some bar or other till I get back there in January :)
Driving up to Newcastle to watch Chelsea (hope it's more entertaining than the Sunderland game) on Saturday, then marshalling in our local half marathon on Sunday, cheering on the runners as they come through the 5 mile spot (can't resist the opportunity to wear a hi-viz vest and get cold feet).
