Prunes?

In soup?

Why?
No,only more cock than leekie.
Question Author
Why not Wolf? It's not so bad and gives quite a nice richness.

Amongst my cock a leekie cooking friends they seem divided on the prune addition, it is mandatory in this house though!

Mamya, I'm not going to snigger at you comment because I am a sensible grown up and above such childishness.... ;-)
I'll have some of mamya's...
I have to agree with Mamya.
Might try prunes the next time, though.
When do you put them in?
Question Author
It's just a few depending on how many people 4-6 for four people and finely sliced just added for the last ten minutes when I add the parsley.
After consuming a bottle of Tomatin, you can add anything you want or are inclined to your Cock-a-Leekie, Eccles.
Thanks, Eccles.
I'll give it a go and see what we think.
Personally I think Burns Night is best celebrated with a couple of shots of one of the many malt whiskys our cousins to the north make so well.
Question Author
No worries, there will be no shortage on the Whisky front!

I was just wondering how common it was amongst ABers to add prunes to their soup.......not very it would seem.
They go far better with another Scottish delicacy, porridge.
'Go'is the operative word.
Prunes and porridge, they'll make you 'go'.
No prunes.

Otherwise it would be 'cock-a leekie-prunie'.....
Question Author
Prunes in cock a leekie really isn't that outrageous!

Perhaps it is an East/West coast divide or something.
You do this regularly ?
Question Author
I'm going to poo-poo that comment O_G ;-)
is this a Scottish recipe ?
