If you went into a baker's shop and asked for a cheese scone what would you expect to get? Please specify.

Daisey...is this a trick question ! A cheese scone perhaps ?
A cheese scone.
I'd expect a cheese scone, Daisy.
A savoury version of a scone....made with grated cheese in the mix, instead of fruit.
Question Author
I did say specify!
My understanding of a cheese scone is one baked with cheese in the mixture. Here one gets a plain scone with a meagre sprinkling of cheese on the top.
Will bake my own when I have replaced my 5 year out of date bag of flour.
a scone that smelt and tasted of cheese.so texture of cheese when eating it.

c'mon put us out of our miseries.

Thanks ginge. I was not suffering from false memory syndrome.
Mikey, please eradicate the e.
Sorry Daisey...can't see my mistake !

Ginge has it right here. It might have some extra cheese on the top but as long as it was a plain scone, with cheese in the mixture, I would be altogether happy.

See my new post regarding High Tea above !
You've spelt Daisy as Daisey!
Question Author
Mikey, none so blind as those who will not see.
Last week I bought one which turned out to be a sweet scone with cheese on top.
Southerners.
Ar but did you buy that sweet and sour scone from a Chinese takeaway, Daisy.
Sorry daisy...will try better next time !

No tony, I didn't....I shall have to mind my P's and Q's from now on, I can see !
Question Author
Unfortunately not Tony.
Bought it from a place which called itself a bakery but did not sell bread.
Question Author
No apostrophe needed Mikey. See me after school.
Should've gone to Greggs (joke).
By the way....how do we all pronounce this baked item ?

Is it scon, as in gone, or scone as in known ?

Latter for me !
LOL, it'll be lines for you now, mikey.

A bakery that does not sell bread, Daisy !.
Daesy...even as I pressed the submit button, I had my doubts !
