It occurred to me that the easiest recipes are often the ones that are promoted as being for kids to make (but that doesn't stop adults from using them too!). So I found this:

(There are 45 recipes there to make big sugar-loving kids, like me, drool!).
I had to google puff candy. We called it cinder toffee.

Thanks you two. Puff candy has loads of names up here in Ayrshire lol
Lightly crush a packet of ratafia/amaretti biscuits, so that they're still in lumps. Add a good couple of handfuls of raisins and a couple of heaped tablespoons of mixed peel. Stir to mix well. Melt a large, (I think it's 200g), bar of plain or milk chocolate and pour onto the biscuit/fruit/peel mix. Stir till the mix is well covered in chocolate and put heaps onto greaseproof paper, or into bun cases. Leave till the chocolate has set. I invented these myself and (not to pat myself on the back too heavily),have had many compliments. I used to make them for Christmas, too, as the mixed peel gives them a tangy orange flavour.
