first you need 1lb self raising flour sifted ,to break up lumps add a tsp of bicarbonate of soda ,and mix these together with a tblsp of butter or margerine. mix these ingredients together dry with 4oz of sultanas when thoughorly mixed add a half pint of milk gradualy to make a soft dough flatten it out on a floury base and cut shapes I use a teacup to make the rounds place on a greased baking tray and put into a hot oven gas mark 4 for 20minutes. allow to cool on a rack then EAT

Thanks for that, what a great site! I would just like to make a comment on the UK recipes if you don't mind. In Oz we have been metric since 1972 and all our recipes are in say 500gram increments, an 50 gram egg is roughly 2ozs and relative to the amount of flour etc. I buy my meat by the kilo, or part thereof, 250 gram is about half a pound, I buy 125 grams per person. you soon get used to it. Having said that I still do not know how far I am travelling!!
