Cleaning Stainless Steel Nightmare!

Hi,

I cant seem to get my stainless steel splash back to look streak free and its starting to get annoying! I have a stainless steel cleaner and no matter what cloths I use, there is always streaks left or you can see where the cloth has been wiped. Any tips out there?

I've not tried it myself but I've heard people use baby lotion on stainless steel.

How about vinegar and oil.

Think it's baby oil not baby lotion

Some say a microfibre cloth gets it clean. I used some Dettol Power Fresh cleaning liquid on mine with a soft damp cloth and then wiped the surface straight away - before it dries with the dry soft teatowel, my cooker hob and extractor hood looks ok for now. (The cleaner I used was not specifically for the stainless steel it was just what I had in)

All 'stainless steel cleaners' have oil in them so that they leave a thin film of oil on the surface so that it looks shiney and 'clean'.
NEVER EVER ! USE ANY TYPE OF STAINLESS STEEL CLEANER
Just clean the SS with mild detergent and water then 'polish' it dry with a clean dry absorbent cotton cloth. You have to actually polish it dry, not just let it dry on it's own.

Where I am anything left to just dry gets covered in a layer of limescale. Sink is a nightmare. Best ignored. Just tell guests you only allow you in your kitchen.

Try a fine wire wool with vodka, but don't drink too much as you do it.

Olive oil on a paper towel. Just a little. Works a treat.

I do what Eddie recommends. Clean it and dry it off.

Had the same problem as you until a few days ago. On the spur of the moment, while trolley pushing in Sainsburys, I picked up a tin of Brasso and read on the tin what it could be used for - hey presto, it said Stainless Steel. Bought a tin and just like magic, it cleaned the splashback and left it nice and shiny ! Took a bit of elbow grease but well worth it.
