Can bacon be microwaved but still retain the crispness we
like in bacon?

It doesn't seem likely but I'd appreciate your views.

no - gods sake - dry fry on your pan and you will get the most sizzled cremated bacon you want
Depends on your microwave toalisi is some you can.
I've tried it and found it a bit hard and dry - I imagine the type of bacon makes a big difference too.

I do mine on a tray in the oven.

Interesting - thanks all.

Thanks to ummmm & L-I-K for the links & mamya for her view which
coincides with mine.
I really want some bacon now...

Sorry L-I-K !

Some of today's headlines recommend avoiding sausages & bacon-
some chance!!!
I've got one of those flat sandwich makers - does the bacon to a crisp but you have to watch it!
Oh dear! I had a sausage sarnie for lunch, so I suppose that's me done for...
I always microwave bacon.

Get yourself a plastic mircrowave tray - the ones with ridges on the botton, and a plastic cover.

Lay your bacon out and cover. Micro on full power for three minutes, turn over and give it three more, then a minute at a time each side until it is as crispy as you like it.
rsvp...brilliant idea. I have a panini maker. I'm going to try that out in a bit...
I thought that micro wave ovens were intended to speed up the cooking time.

Eight minutes plus Andy Hughes....I do it considerably quicker than that, in a traditional frying pan,or under a grill.

Thanks retrocop.

Anything that keeps the flavour & saves on the washing up
gets my vote.
I microwave bacon, usually about 3-4 minutes and it's more juicy than crispy. I imagine it would get crispier for longer but then it would dry it out too so maybe better in a pan for that.

So much quicker and easier in the microwave.
Toalisi - what is the difference between washing a frying pan and a microwave pan?

rsvp - tried your suggestion, worked a treat, I even put mushrooms in with it.
Glad you found the suggestion useful ummmm -can't really see any reason not to fry an egg too and maybe a bit of fried bread (or is that too ambitious!)
