I cant stand mothers day it is such a performance. I feel I have to go and buy an overpriced card which most of the words I dont actually mean, they dont make cards "Happy Mothers day your voice is like a foghorn your a pain in the neck and an awkward old battleaxe" you have to spend money on a gift that you know she probably wont like because everything you do is wrong anyway. I am having my parents for a meal on Sunday and because it is mothers day I will get indigestion because I cant argue with her because heaven forbid we should have an argument on mothers day. It is commercialism forced happiness and performance. Maybe I will appreciate her when she is no longer here life is so typical !!

A pretty, but blank, card in which you can write your own personal message doesn't cost much. Neither does a small bunch of fresh flowers. Baths is correct, the day is actually Mothering Sunday (and doesn't really have much to do with celebrating our dear old Mums......although it's nice to have an occasion to do so) and is only as commercialised as you let it...

You should love your maw, she still holds your hand
gordie,...not so sure about it just being commercialism...am not well up on this, but don't churches call it "Mothering Sunday"?

Baths
You don't have to do anything of the sort, so stop complaining. If you want to tell her how much you hate her, do so. She may well be relieved to find her suspicions confirmed.
Just be thankful that your parents are still alive.

You seem a little grumpy today. New self-inflicted health crisis on the horizon?
Lol @ JTH ;) x x

I am grumpy today but my health is fine. Shoulder pain awful as usual but im used to that eating a bit better not worth having gallbladder pain so no health crisis as I can see on the horizon !! Anyway how do you self inflict your health issues. Unless anger and bitterness causes health problems !!??

Ive given jackinthehat the best answer i love it too
By having a dreadful diet and ignoring all medical advice, I imagine......but that's just a guess.
My facebook posting for Monday was -

Even at my age (38 always 38 never older never younger)
The first place I come after having my tooth out is to mums
(It's even better that she's not in)
Jack suggested the crisis, not your health itself, was self inflicted. It's not necessary to treat every problem as a crisis. Yes, anger can worsen your health.
My Mum died 20 years ago this May, and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to able to arrive at her doorstep this coming Sunday, with some over-priced flowers and a over-priced card.
//I am having my parents for a meal on Sunday//

Blimey. You really do dislike them don't you. Were just having Roast beef and the trimmings. :-)
Do what I do gordie, don't bother ;-)

I didn't send one to mine last year, and despite us not actually seeing each other for 3 years (the fallout instigated by her), she had the gall to complain I didn't send one!

No doubt I'll get one this Sunday too, well, I would If I didn't ignore it.

B00, that's sad.

I don't like any of those 'days' - including Valentines Day. Treasure your mum well all year round. She won't be with you forever.
Well you call statins a wonder drug on the other thread, but they could be causing your shoulder pain ......

to be honest Naomi, we have never had a good relationship, I left home at 16 as soon as I got a few months wages behind me in order to do so. We maintained a cordial relationship for another 20 odd years or so, then like I say 3 or 4 years ago we had a massive blow out.

I can genuinely say, hand on heart I do not miss her.
but she named you Boo, surely you miss her just for that..... (runs for the hills)

I won't see mum, so i like to use one of the apps to make cards using old photos but this year i've gone for a handmade (not by me) butterfly one that's really pretty

I'm spending mothers day with my dad, as you do...
Me and bro are taking Mum out for a meal on Mother's Day, just the three of us and I'm really looking forward to it. I love her and treasure her more than ever now she's nearly 85. mikey, sorry you no longer have your Mum x
Viv....I don't think about it very often now, except at Mothers Day.
