e.g. Gin makes you angry. Rum makes people aggressive. Wine makes you sleepy.

Any truth in this theory?

Brandy makes you randy.
Or whisky makes you frisky
I doubt it.all it does is remove inhibitions.
...gin makes you sin, whisky makes you frisky.
Yes...but true for different people.

Vodka used to make me angry.
I knew someone who would get very aggressive on whisky but as nice as ninepence when on brandy.
I have known people who can tolerate beer or wine but spirits makes them plain nasty. I don't know if it's because it is easier to drink far more alcohol when drinking spirits, so they become more drunk, or if it is the spirits that triggers it
Brandy makes you randy
But Rum helps you C**
I'm sure I've read the darker the drink the more aggressive it makes some people ,I know a male where this is true.
Very true, but gin makes you weepy, so the saying goes. I've just had one glass of wine tonight and I've a thudding headache. I don't drink much at all now but tonight its very warm no lemonade left and a bottle of Zinfandel in the fridge in case my daughter called. So I opened the wine Ive had a small glass and the bottle is almost full. it says on the label: Best drunk within 3 days. I dont think I can cope with three days of this.
Gin makes me maudlin, always has, vodka doesn't.

White wine equals a pounding head after a couple of sips, red wine is fine.

Sip.x
I don't think there's any truth in the theory. I had a friend who swore that some drinks made her nasty while others made her fun, but I think it more depends on the amount of pure alcohol imbibed.
Dark drinks have more Congeners which are what give you the hangover

Hot wine at xmas markets definitely makes my legs give way :-)
Askyourgran I can help you. Where do you live?
For all you chaps out there. A couple of pints of Guinness then a G&T or two after is liable to give you a very stiff part, if you are up to it.
As a young lad I remember a mixed drink that we called a 'Knicker Dropper Special' can't remember what was in it (Brandy, Babycham, Cherry Brandy?)
Never had the intended effect on any ladies I bought it for though :-(

Thanks grasscarp if you can get up to Leeds before tomorrow it is yours. My SIL is calling tomorrow night, she has hollow legs, like a sump, will drink anything especially wine, and not turn a hair, so I will probably offload it onto her.
I am working tomorrow in London so no chance of reaching Leeds before your SIL. Wish you both a good time :0)
Not a bit of truth in it; how could there be ? Trace elements are going to change the effect.

Gin makes you sleepy, rum makes you sleepy, wine makes you sleepy, brandy makes you sleepy, vodka makes you sleepy, beer makes you sleepy, cider makes you sleepy, ...
