Last week we treated ourselves to a gorgeous brand new bedroom carpet in silver grey - so luxurious. I've woken up at 4am to a strange sound in bedroom. Warily I've turned on bedside light to see one of my cats chewing on the bloody innards of Christ knows what on my beautiful new carpet! Startled, shes bombed it downstairs leaving me to clear up God knows what!! Suppose I should be praising her or else i might be waking up to a sheeps head tomorrow.....

EEK !!
Not the best way to wake up Smow. :o{ But that's cats for you.
I had a dog that used to catch birds, rip the to shreds, and leave them on the sofa.

It used to make me cry! 1) sad for the bird and 2) sad for my very weak stomach.

I used to sit in the kitchen waiting for one of my sons to come home and clean it up and trying to ignore a very proud looking dog.
only bringing his ma and pa a wee pressie !! ..hope you had slippers on ..squelch squelch.....
That's unusual for dogs ummmm. One dog we had, a black lab, when we went walkies in the woods he would have rabbits playing with him, if he was out in the garden birds used to come and sit on him. I've never known another dog like him. The boys rabbits used to play with him, chasing each other round the garden and end up with heap of legs and ears flaked out on the lawn.
I've never known it either. He was a springer and a real softy, a rescue dog. From his behaviour we could only assume he was mistreated. He fell in love with the kids really quickly. He was scared of everything, except birds!

I got a phone call from my son saying Joey had run away. I said he'll be in the pond. Get a phone call 10 minutes later saying "Mum, I can't get Joey out the pond" :-)
It's a gift, when cats do that they're 'bringing back food for the family' ie. you and whoever s/he's deemed 'family'.
Oh Dear ....so far this spring.. four sparrows... two rats four mice...and the dead partridge down the lane..eeek...now the juvenille seagulls are being stalked...and thats what next doors Mr Ralphie cat has been busy doing...i hope my two are not on the pull as one of my friends says...
My cats, thankfully, are not hunters, yet! They might catch the odd spider and start acting like they're hard as nails.
If you leave the bedroom door open then don't blame the cat.
Regularly get contributions here....mice, one rat and a raven in the last week. The funniest one was the spaniel walking in with the rear half of a rabbit hanging out of his mouth, two legs splayed out either side at 50 degrees away from the vertical - though I suspect it was his mate, the cat, that had nailed it.
I'm glad I've got indoor cats...and a silly lurcher that doesn't react to squirrels or birds even when they are under her nose.

Carpet seems to have survived! Mind you it made me member our old house when we lived in a village backing onto fields - they used to bring in moles, frogs, and once a whole hare!! God knows how they got it through the cat flap!
only one white carpet in my house and that's the one that the dog wipes her gravy whiskers on ...

Omg a white carpet!
This is why I'd never have a flamin' cat, I love wildlife far too much, especially at this time when they are tyring to breed!
i know, don't know what doris was thinking ...
My two are indoor cats. Frankie stalks, catches and eats Spiders but Princess Merlin runs away from them.
One of our cats spent ages chasing a bluebottle round the window and finally trapped it under her paw. She then looked at us as if to say ' look what I've got, aren't I clever?' lifted her paw and it flew away. Stupid cat!!
Keep your cats in at night so they can't spend it killing our wildlife, especially fledgelings while they are so vulnerable at this time of the year.
