Has Jamie Got The Measurements Wrong?!

In this recipe for Jamie's pickled cucumbers surely there isn't enough vinegar used?
I would have thought that the vinegar needs to completely cover the cucumbers but there is no way 150mls is enough to do it?

I think you'd be surprised - once all those ingredients are packed in the jar there won't be much space for much more vinegar.

It's only ten tablespoons,unless it is a small jar I doubt it is enough vinegar.

Well it's hard to tell the size of the jar but it looks packed tight to me , use extra and discard what is left if it's too much.

I tried the recipe and have the cucumbers packed into kilner jars but there is only a centimeter or two of vinegar at the bottom of the jar!

Shivvy, I would just fill the jar with vinegar after packing in the cucumbers

Are your jars packed tightly as in the image?

There shouldn't be many gaps or spaces between.

How many cucumbers did you use?

The liquid needs to be boiled first , think that's why Shivvy would like a proper measure.

Could he have meant 1500mls maybe?

I reckon my only option now is to top the jars up with more vinegar. But do you think there will be much difference to the end taste because all the vinegar hasn't been warmed through with the spices?

Then she could fill the packed jar and them empty the liquid into a pan to boil.

I used 2 regular sized cucumbers 237sj.

Ingredients
0 pickling cucumbers , or 0 regular-sized cucumbers
2 banana shallots
2 teaspoons mustard seeds
½ teaspoon turmeric
2 star anise
75 g caster sugar
150 ml vinegar

I think I will empty the original vinegar back into the pan and reboil with additional vinegar.
