How To Convince Mom To Change My Classes?
12 Answers
So, about a month ago, my school released my classes. I only have 1 class with the only 2 people I am comfortable talking to, and its only homeroom. So, I asked my mom to change my lunch, so I would have lunch with them. She said: "No, your classes will change!!! That's not even how it works!! You'll just have to make new friends or just sit alone!!!!!!"
My mom doesn't understand that I have social anxiety which makes it very hard for me to talk to people and to make friends.
Well, it's a month later now, and my mom still hasn't changed my lunch. School starts August 8th for me and open house is tonight. Help?

If social anxiety is your problem, force yourself to practice talking to people on trains, in buses, or wherever. If it goes wrong and embarrassing , it doesn't matter. You'll never see them again. Just try. I do know how you feel, though. I don't understand about the lunch situation, though. I'm not American. :)

I'm unfamiliar with US schooling but I would say that you will be hampered by social anxiety all your lie unless you take a deep breath and try to make friends. It gets easier when it is a familiar activity; it stays daunting if you forever refuse to try.
For the sake of your future self give it ago and try, try again. Learn what works. Making yourself uncomfortable now and bearing any unsuccessful embarrassment now and you will be really really glad you did when older, and so happy to be no longer hampered from doing anything due to your bashfulness.
