Replacement Of Damaged Kitchen Units Versus Insurance Company Response
For a plumber to solve a leak problem I had to rip out two kitchen units. These cannot be replaced as they are. The insurance company say they will only pay for the damaged units, which I understand. The kitchen units are old and I very much doubt that they are replaceable. If someone said that they could replace by rebuilding from scratch but it would cost X, has anyone experience as to how the insurance company reacted. For example to rebuild these two units would cost £1000 say, but as it is a small kitchen I could replace it for say £3000? I would welcome advice from anyone who has similar experience or perhaps how to best negotiate a satisfactory solution for me. Very many thanks

The carcase may not even be that visible, if the doors were not damaged it should be fairly easy to get a similar carcase of the same size and fit the door to that. It's what I did in a kitchen I own when I have to remove one to get to the wall behind. One has to open the substitute and pay attention to spot any difference.

I had a recent claim paid out for a bathroom. The bathroom floor needed to be replaced which meant taking out the bath. I accepted the offer from the insurance and replaced the floor and fitted a complete new bathroom suite. I did what work I could myself (decoration & tiles) and got help for the fitting & fixing.
