Crosse And Blackwell Soups

Some time back There was Heinz, then Campbells Condensed soup which I believe no longer exists. Heinz was merged with Campbells.

However I can't find CONDENSED soup and I was told crosse and blackwell is the condensed soup. Is that correct.

I may have company next week and hope to make chicken, ham and mushroom pie. Thanks for any replies.

Jackdaw...Campbell's make lots of ranges of soup...but only a limited number of condensed soups are marketed in the UK.

trt I assume it replaces the need to make a simple white sauce and add flavourings to it!!

You can't always trust what a store says it stocks on it's website is actually on it's shelves. Found that out during the week when I couldn't find a particular brand of soap at either of my local stores, only to discover, when I checked on the Net on my return, the first place I'd gone claims to sell it. The memo telling stores that they do must have got lost in the post.

trt, Condensed Chicken & Mushroom soup makes a great sauce for a chicken pie, just use it straight from the tin as it is. Quicker and more taste than making your own sauce.

Mysupermarket.co.uk (which is generally very reliable) is showing Campbell's Condensed Cream of Chicken soup available as follows:
Waitrose (on special offer, reduced from £1.00 to 75p)
Morrison's (on special offer, reduced from £1.00 to 78p)
Asda (85p)
Tesco (£1.00)
Sainsbury's (£1.00)
(Over varieties are also available)

The 'condensed' range which seems to be no longer available was Batchelor's.

I'm with trt on this - why feed your guests gloopy stuff with additives?

I seem to remember several years ago the Batchelors bought out Campbells and there was a notice to the effect that Campbells Condensed soups would be marketed under the Batchelors label. We use Campbells condendensed mushroom soup and noticed this happening. Some time later the Campbells label re-appeared and Batchelors disappeared. The soup itself didn't seem to change through the label changes but Campbells is certainly availble at present.

since heinz was taken over there soups and beans have altered and not in a good way the tomato my wife liked now has a greasy aftertaste and the chicken which I liked is thinner and the chicken tastes fishy [come from feeding chickens fishmeal] we do not buy any heinz products unless there is no alternative
