Wish I could help, jj. But neither have I.
Best of luck.
Just go for a Vindaloo. You'll be fine.
Go for a Chicken Korma, Jennyjoan or a tandoori chicken.
If you like curry, try a Rogan Josh with the meat of your choice. This is a mild curry. For a fiery curry try a vindaloo. You will want Pilau rice and maybe some Bombay potatoes or a naan bread to mop up the sauce.
Don't follow Jackdaw's advice!
In my experience most waiters / waitresses in such establishments are more than willing to advise on what will, suit your palate and will even swap it if you don't like it.
Chicken Korma or Chicken Kashmiri are good 'beginners' dishes as they are not hot.
If you can handle a little heat just order a 'Curry' with whatever meat you fancy.
Aloo gobi is a nice side dish (cauli and potato)
Unless you like spicy stay away from Madras, Vindaloo and Jalfrezi, they are hot.
I've just finished a Keema (mince) Madras and aloo gobi.... v nice it was too.
I'm just amazed that there are people who've never had an Indian. Have you never eaten curry JJ?
If there's a few of you, see if they have a sharing menu - that way you can try a little of various dishes.

Prudie I have ate Chinese curry but never had an Indian.

I have heard that vindaloo actually means what it says you end up in the loo. I certainly don't want diarrhoea.

Thanks all for the advice. Have all week to "worry" about it. LOL
No need to worry, Conne.....just take Zac's advice and chat to the waiter or waitress.....they will enjoy helping you...x
Chinese Curry, Oh dear.
Chkn Korma is mild but for heat add whole green chillies & you can eat bits to taste.

Have you every been to China, Tashi?
They usually have an English menu as well, jj ;-)
Go for a chicken Bhuna

tbh - it all sounds like "heavy" food - so i can't afford to overload the system so will take it easy.
