Personally no because we have domesticated them but I can see how they are a source of food much the same as lambs and cattle and chickens etc

I recall reading a travel book, about trekking in the Andes, and the author mentioned going to a cuy eatery, and the little things were running around under the tables !

I couldn't eat it if it looked like a squashed guinea pig as in the first food picture. I might be tempted by the second one, but I'd have to put all thoughts of my sister's childhood pet from my mind. It was a mangy little thing.

In Peru they are breed specifically as food. Much as rabbits are bred for food in Europe.

I know someone who did. His job with a charity involved travelling to meet people in many parts of the globe. Most of them were not westernised in any way and he was an honoured guest on his visits. They would offer him the best they had and in Peru, I think, the best was roast guinea pig which they farmed for meat. So he ate it.

I'd have no problem eating guinea pig - no different from eating rabbit etc

I'm a meat eater and will try any animal specifically bred for eating or game animal that is not endangered.
I can't understand people who happily tuck in to a chicken but are revolted at the thought of eating guinea pig
