Anyone eaten it - is it nice? I need to make some jam for a charity stall this weekend and I see that gooseberries are in season. I haven't eaten a gooseberry since I was a child and I picked some that were overhanging my Gran's meadow and developed a rash. That kind of put me off.

Gooseberry Jam (Goosgog - as we used to call it) is lovely. Especially if you like it "tart" and makes your mouth pucker.

I'm waiting until I can get home at the end of July and pick whortleberries on Exmoor and make jam from them. My God, there is nothing like whortleberry jam and I sure as hell won't be giving them to anybody else.
My husband would wrestle your arm off for a jar of goosegog jam. Particularly if they are red ones.
Strawberry and Rhubard and ginger made. Raspberry next...can't decide on goosegog or blueberry. I keep the kids in jam all year, so it's a busy time :o)
You don't seem to see the red goosegogs these days Eccles, well not up here anyway. My Dad used to grow them in his allotment years ago, they were lovely
