Is it illegal to serve a pint of beer in the wrong glass. I.e serve a Carling in a glass labelled with a Stella logo

Probably not,,as long as it was a pint glass.

No it only needs to be the correct size, eg a pint has to be served in a lined 'pint' glass. This is for draught beer where the quantity served is actually measured by the size of glass it is served into. The brand name on the glass does not matter.

I would of thought it was. You would be done for selling a gin from a Gordon's gin bottle that wasn't Gordon's gin. Surely at worst it would be false advertising

You would be falsely selling the gin as Gordons. You are not selling the beer as Stella.

You ask for a brand of beer and receive it. Other drinkers may assume that you are drinking 'something else' as shown on the glass but it's really neither here nor there....

Bringing in labelled glasses was a bad idea.

No it would be illegal to serve Carling from a Stella pump for example that would be false advertising, deception or fraud of some sort, but the glass it is poured into it not important.
Most glasses are just plain with no logo.

Labelled glasses get nicked a lot more than plain glasses - my hubby is terrible for it!

I agree about the labeled glasses, I used to have my own beer glass (actually a pewter tankard ) behind the bar at my local, as did many other customers. Now that's not allowed.

Eddie, the last time that I was in a pub there was a row of customers tankards on hooks above the bar.

I think it was changed by law Ummm due to the vessels not being a proper pint and therefore maybe underselling them

^ yes that is why it does not happen now. It is illegal to serve into a non lined 'official glass' . You can still buy the drink in an official glass and then pour it into your own glass, I still know one guy who does that. You have to transfer it yourself though the bar staff can't do it .
