Chilli con carne, that is?

I favour mine without rice, just in a bowl with a good dollop of creme fraiche on top.

I know some like to add guacamole, cheese, nachos, tacos, etc.

Anyway, I'm cooking the stuff later and was wondering how to jazz it up a little, particularly the rice, which is a must-have component for the OH.

Best answer for best rice idea!

Sometimes with baked potato...but, if with rice, jazz the rice up with chermoula (even though it is African)...... https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/belazu-chermoula/882870-409080-409081

Ginge, I also bought the Zhoug today. I bet that would be nice added to cous cous and served with lamb tagine.

NoM....I was going to suggest adding to couscous (and wheatberries- branded as EBLY)......I suggest you add these at the end to the hot, cooked rice etc....don't try to cook them at the start.

^^^that's the pastes I'm talking about - not the Ebly....obviously!

I've had the wheatberries in the past. You can get those bags of mixed grains, quinoa, etc and sometime wheatberries are in them.

I've cooked the rice in coconut water with Chermoula and a fresh bay leaf from the garden. It's lush - a tad sticky but I can live with that.
I like chilli with chips better than rice and the chips have to have a lot of vinegar on them !
With a teaspoon
Glad you're enjoying yor rice but I cannot pretend that my boat is floating when faced with such a confused plate of food.
Friend of mine shared the story in from one of our mutual wine suppliers - who lived in Falmouth. He's out in Milan at the moment staying an Air BandB with friends and, on an evening in, decided to make a chilli con carne and linguini. He went to add some salt for seasoning, later to realise that he had actually added dishwasher powder....... Stick to the wine, eh?
two typos grrr, lives in Falmouth and staying in an Air BandB....
Isn't coconut rice more linked to Asia?
If NJ can use chopsticks he could knit a waistcoat with the spaghetti :-)
Lol Mamy. Is it tacos the crispy things they eat with chilli?
as long as NJ doesn't use them left-handed, that is a major faux pas in Far Eastern (and Middle Eastern) manners.....
Question Author
I can't understand NJ's dislike of spaghetti. It's so much fun twisting it round your fork.

Anyway, to add further confusion to the fusion, I've found a Keema Nan in the freezer which will go with my Mexican Chilli and Asian Rice. Happy days.
Nachos I think.

Nachos to you too, Mamya ;)
Recently I couldn't be bothered with rice so ha poppadums with my chilli.

Pleb I am.
Who's nicking my letters?
