I have made a Sheppard's pie for this evening, and want to make a broccoli dish as a side. Any ideas for a sauce ? My two grandchildren will be eating with us, 7 and 3.

cheese sauce, imo goes down well with both broccoli and shepherds pie.

Do you need a sauce for the broccoli? For Shepherd's pie i'd just do a gravy (or nothing) - I think any other sauce (even if just on the broccolli )would be odd. Maybe I'm not adventurous enough

Okay- I have probably put detlem cheese on shepherds pie and I thnk cauliflower cheese would be okay so it should work with broccoli.

I do cheese sauce with broccoli and our grandkids love it.

haven't tried it myself FF, but I've heard cauli and brocc with cheese sauce is tasty.

tbh, I prefer my shepherds pie to be a bit on the drier side than running with gravy,, pour over a cheese sauce and it's a 'poor man's moussaka' if you'll permit the insulting reference.

With alba and cheese sauce if it was adults I have done a whiskey sauce in the past

Bring a a bottle of Chardonnay Alba ! Yep, think it will be with a cheese sauce. If it's not eaten I can always whizz it up into a soup. The broccoli I mean, not the Sheppard's pie.
