Anyone got an ingenious method of labelling batch cooks in the freezer? Sticky labels wear off, use a sharpie and then you're left with the label forever! Would love to hear any tips people have got.
I write directly on the box lid with a permanent marker, the ink wipes off with nail varnish remover when I want to use it for something different. Things in bags I use permanent marker or double bag with a paper label sandwiched between the layers. You can also cling film a paper label to the outside of a box
....however, some plastics don't get on with acetone/amyl acetate....they dissolve. Polythene should be OK, but be careful with other plastics. (I always use alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to remove marker/stickers etc...much safer).
Anything I freeze in boxes I then decant into plastic bags to save space and just write with indelible marker on the bag. I also recycle the bags and just cross out the previous contents. Idiot-proof!
Yes, I write in the boxes too. I use takeaway type ones bought in bulk from Costco. I've found the permanent marker washes off easily if you use one of those non scratch scouters.
