For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.My guess is that someone had cooked up a load of fruit, possibly to drink later or make something else out of...stored it, the natural air born yeast had done it's job and then sometime later when that person went to drink some of their stored fruit or eat it (whichever) they discovered that they fell over if they ate too much.
Fruits have natural sugars etc in them so it's very easy to get basic fermentation going.
