I've a strange problem. When I got married I was told I could use whatever name I wanted. My maiden name became my middle name so from Fredda Turner to Fredda Turner Cuttlefish. Unfortunately I only used Fredda Cuttlefish on my passport. I just got divorced and have gone back to Fredda Turner but now heres the problem... The passport office want prove that Fredda Turner and Fredda Turner Cuttlefish are in fact the same person. A dumb mistake maybe, but innocent and now I have to get a statutory declaration to prove this. So, can anyone help me figure out how and to do this simply and cheaply please
You take your various certificates to a solicitor. you explain this. They then type it all out and you swear it in front of a commissioner for oaths. Total cost probably about £40.
I have an English solicitor here in Germany, and our understanding has become, I swear the oath, he witnesses it, and he gets rewarded with a bottle of Pol Roger. Really nice chap.
