Certainly you can, great cut.
I would. I think it's pretty much the same, they both require slow and long cooks.
Yes
Mrs bb says yes, and cook it for the same amount of time as you would steak.

I should have explained further. Found a piece of brisket in the freezer, instead of pot roasting it, I'm going to cube it and make something more exotic.
When I was young we used to have brisket nearly every Sunday (couldn't afford the dearer cuts). I remember it tended to fall apart when sliced. Haven't had it for years now.
I think that if you cube it it will fall apart during cooking.
If you want something more exotic you mind find this ok.

Thanks for your replies. I decided to cut the brisket into large chunks, to stop it falling apart.
I mixed some paprika, smoked paprika, hot paprika and garlic. Browned the meat and onions, added 1 tin of chopped tomatoes and the same amount of red wine. Put into oven for 3 hours. Serve with sweet potatoes and basmati rice.
Delicious.
There's an awful lot of paprika in Sheffield. :-)

That sounds really nice. I hope you enjoy it.

I do use a lot of paprika, Tilly. Luckily, we have a continental food supermarket nearby. You can buy large packets of herbs and spices for the same price of a Swartz bottle. BTW, I forgot to mention to add a stock cube and plenty of black pepper.
you can put any cut of beef in a casserole

It was excellent. The chunks of meat held together beautifully and were very tender. Next time I'm going to cut some chunks much smaller, as they will disintegrate into the gravy.
