You do not know whether your kidneys are damaged or not and only tests will tell.
if they are not damaged.....then no problem with becoming obsessed with what you drink.
If they are damaged, then it seems unreasonable to "flog them to death" further, by drinking loads of fluid.
Now:
1) Go to see you GP and ask about kidney tests.
2) Only drink when you feel thirsty.

I know little about gout, but if it was me, I'd stick with the lemon juice. You can use it on veg or fish also...not just in water. The cranberry juice will be loaded with either sugar or artificial sweetners and is expensive to boot. If you need to drink a lot of water try a "water enhancer"... or dilute squash. If it makes you burp...drink slower. Dont gulp.
ok, well im not a doctor im only asking someone on here who is suffering same as me, starting to panic now because this bloody gout will put me out of work permanently !!!
reason i ask about kidneys is my kidney tests came back abnormal twice a couple years ago. plus im eating like an efffffing rabbit this last 3 weeks and im still getting gout at least once per week !!!!

I had this years ago, and it went as soon as I changed my diet to the one we all know is healthy; avoided foods I was intolerant to, like gluten, dairy etc (www.yorktest.com), fasting a few times a week, avoiding alcohol and sugar. But listen to Sqad- find out if your kidneys are okay, and in the meantime, eat and drink as sensibly as you can.
Hi pumpjack! Good to hear you've booked a trip to your GP. Hope you're doing much better. By the way, was there something you could not quite understand about the test results, especially the kidney blood test?
