I did my DNA a couple of years ago on Ancestry but always have wondered if it is based on my family history research I have done (so they can see where I come from and many of my ancestors on my tree on their website.
Or is it purely based on my saliva test?

It's purely your saliva test Kloof x
I'm not sure. What I want to know is, how does the test know where to 'stop' down your DNA line? Or conversely, does your saliva not contain your original DNA from the relative cradle of civilisation we originated?
