Only used them for the first time today. Kept getting 'suspicious minds' because the machine couldn't cope with my plastic bag! That was pretty irritating.
UH huh huh
I only heard it today for first time, we have Dealz, it's poundland though and it took a guy on the other self service till to point out the stupid annoying voice to me
Rather than chatting to the cashiers I prefer a Little Less Conversation
Oh dear. I hope all the tills arent like that.
I probably wouldnt be able to see well enough to use one on my own.
Fortunately I am not so impoverished as to be forced to shop there so I am unable to comment.
Lol....such snobbery.
You don't really need to be impoverished, just wise enough to know which items aren't worth more than a pound.

I wouldn't mind singing tills as long as I could choose the song - juke box style.

Being a Londoner I have Harrods down the road for all my needs.
I know someone who wouldn't be seen dead in that^ dump.
We used to have a 99p shop in our town and it always had some very good bargains eg kleenex man size tissues, but since it changed to Poundland Ive found the true bargains harder to find.I think ive only been in there twice. since it changed hands.
Stopped using Poundland because it irritated me so much. Wilkos is often cheaper anyway.
I got addicted to it, started going in there several times a day.
In fact you might say I was 'caught in a trap'.

Is your middle name Dodi by chance ?
I loathe all self-service tills and will only use them if there isn't any option e.g. in Poundland.
I went into Poundland to get Typhoo one cup teabags. You can't get them supermarkets any more, and I really prefer them. Usual price £2.17, so it's just as well I'm not too proud to shop there. They do have other good bargains, if you look carefully.
The last time I enquired, our butler said the housekeeper ordered supplies from Jackson's in Piccadilly. Of course we get most items from our farms, but then I suppose most people do that. And where exactly is ' Pound land ' anyway, is it near the Isle of Wight?

Muck, not far from the common.

They now have a poster abouve the tills advertising their "Elvis" voice!

I feel sorry for the staff - they have to listen to it all day!
The Fortnum & Mason self service tills have a supercilious tone of voice.
Vexing, to say the least.
