I have been diagnosed with a gastric problem and need to adapt my diet. I know obvious stuff like avoiding fried, spicy meals. But what can I have for meals? Weetabix OK? I have searched for a cook book but no luck. All ideas gratefully received.

I have a similar problem and for me Weetabix aggravates it but porridge is fine. I was also told by a doctor to avoid alcohol, tomatoes and caffeine. I'm afraid I have found it a case of trial and error in working out what I can and can't eat.
Try avoiding wheat. Cut out bread, have soup and potatoes for lunch, or salads and chips, but no bread. choose oat cereals over wheat, so oatabix or porridge. Main meals should be freshly cooked and pastry free.
There must be websites which have recipes for your condition. Without you saying, specifically, what it it (which I can understand), it’s difficult for people to make helpful suggestions.
Cut out a lot of fatty food and pastries. Too much white wine is a killer. Eat a little bread but stick to white or wholemeal. Not seeded. Oranges can cause acidity. Top much caffeine. Try decaffeinated. It's trial and error with some green vegetables. Just generally eating less, does the trick!
A gastric problem...unless you say what it is you will get conflicting advice. IBS, acid reflux, gastritis, is it self-diagnosed? are you on medication ie omeprazole? This is an anonymous site so being coy about your problem will result in unhelpful and potentially harmful advice.
thanks all. Im not being coy, just uncertain! The lining of my stomach has been eroded in parts by acid. I was on omeprazole (sp?) but am now on Lansoprazole (sp?) all very new to me. I am insulin dependant Type 2 diabetes and normally watch my diet every day so I assume it might be a similar regime? But I enjoy a coffee - do I have to give that up? One site I looked at said even decaf is a no-no. I never ate fried foods anyway.
Make veg soups for lunch - any combo of seasonal veg e.g. butternut squash, carrots, parsnips, leeks, celeriac (not all in the same soup obviously) - freeze any extra for another day. Very simple, tasty and nutritious.
