Yes - just buy any toaster that has a 'bagel setting' - that will allow you to toast from just one side.

I have done that Ginge but my toaster will only take 2 thin slices and they pinder a bit.

Mamy....my super luxury extra-expensive toaster (actually a Lidl own-brand) has very wide slots and can take two thickish slices back-to-back...and it has a "bun rack" too! (All for £15!)
