Thawing Frozen Joint

I've got a frozen 11 kilo gammon. How long do you reckon it will take to thaw out in a fridge?
I'm getting conflicting advice on the web.

That's the size of a huge turkey. In a fridge 3-4 days at least

I know, it's a monster. We're having a do next week just to get rid of it. The amount of space it's taking up in the freezer is ridiculous.

Just about Tilly. It's in a second fridge that we've got in the utility room. I've had to take the beer out to make room though.

Tambo, I think that would take too much looking after.

I'd give it at least five days. It won't matter if you have to cook it earlier than expected because it's defrosted.

I've got to cook it overnight on Friday. Fingers crossed it'll be defrosted by then. It'll never thaw in 24 hours, in cold water or not, and the boot idea would not be good, if the sun comes out the heat in there will get very high.

wrap it in electric blanket or shove in oven to thaw.

I agree with the bucket and water idea. My mum does that with her turkey every year. Usually takes around 36-48 hours.
