I have enjoyed watching RS globe trotting this week, not sure if they are repeats. Some of the food looks really tasty in the different countries, but I do wonder if some of the food he eats puts him on the loo for a week. Last night he ate chicken that had been boiled in some cock up, and the blood as he said was still running out when eating it. And I can't for the life of me see that some of the street food can be safe to eat. Have you ever been to countries and eaten street food.

No.
I rather like Rick's programmes though.
Not when I saw how it was stored.
Yes, in Italy and in Malta.
yup, many times in Singapore and Hong Kong, a couple of times in Thailand, also Penang and America. this was all around 40 years ago. I think in all the times I did it, I got caught out twice but as I used to love the tropical fruit from the fruit stands, it may just have been too much fruit as I wasn't ill with it. I have had Norwalk more times in the UK than I have had food related upsets abroad.
What kind of street food, danny?
I tend to avoid street food. Don`t trust the handling. I remember a friend of mine ate street food in Singapore and came home with paratyphoid - ended up in an isolation hospital for a week.
Italy, believe it or not, fish and chips. Malta Tomato sandwich which consisted of a bap with the tomato rubbed on both halves and then thrown away.
I did have a corn on the cob in Thailand. That's as brave as I got.
danny - I don't think it's the same kind of street food.
Just remembered - I ate street food (well, cooked on the beach) in Koh Samui this year. I half expected to be ill but wasn`t which was a bit of a surprise.
ummm , it was sold from a stall in a street ,so what should I call it.
Not street food as such teacake but really suffered in India after eating - out of courtesy really - some of the little seeds that are offered to you from a little tray after a meal.
I really like Rick Stein - he seems a very gentle man and is always so respectful of the different people that he meets.
In South Korea, Hong Kong and Turkey - always been fine
Mrs sqad when asked about eating street food replied:
"Not bloody likely".

I have NEVER eaten street food.

RS admits that he has had several severe bouts of bowel disturbances after eating street food.......particularly in India....

Count me out as well.
That's a bit like eating from a burger van which has sinks and refrigeration and probably has to meet certain standards.
Ummmm, oviously the fish and chip stall had to have a deep fat friar, but in Malta all that was on the stall was a pile of baps and tomatoes.
I’ve eaten a very nice tortilla type thing from a street somewhere in Europe.
I’d be worried about eating anything meaty in Asia. Could be dog or cat.
Some of the stalls had chickens hanging from hooks 40 degree heat.
ummmm, that would save on gas or electric:-)
yes, in the far east & only grills or stir fries. I avoid stews/boils curry style due to their added water that gives me gyp.

Fresh grilled garlic prawns, stir fry chkn chow mein, satay all washed down with coconut milk directly from shell - drooool
