Hi, over the last 3 weeks, when we use any cold water upstairs, i.e flush the loo, turn on the cold water tap on the bathroom sink, the water pipes downstairs under our kitchen sink vibrate, make a right racket and start to drip, this only stops when we turn the hot and cold taps on downstairs or obviously if we stop using cold water upstairs, ive lived here for 6 years and this is the first time this has ever happened, does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Many Thanks

It's 'water hammer' (a.k.a hydraulic shock).

See 'Water hammer at work' here:

Water pressure fluctuates, especially overnight (it rises because of lower demand.)

Your water supplier has possibly increased the pressure.

Fit an "arrestor". Quite cheap, and very quickly fitted by a plumber.
Possibly the best place would be under the kitchen sink.
