How do people afford to deep fat fry things, price of oil isn't cheap. I'd use ground nut oil and that's £1.80 for 250 ml and you'd need more than that!

you use crispn'dry - cheaper and you re-use it
Your local chippie deep fries everything by simply reusing the oil until it turns nasty. That's what most other people do too!
I'd use lard and reuse it.
I threw away my deep fat fryer years ago. I mainly use a hot air fryer now - only a tiny bit of oil used and I use rape-seed oil which is healthier than most and cheap. Exceptions are roast spuds etc - when I use lard or goose/duck fat in a frying pan to coat them (after parboiling) before putting them in the oven.
I don't deep fry and I certainly don't re-use!!!! Yuk.
No deep-frying here, either...just not required.
I always thought there are dangers with reheating vegetable oil. Something about free radicals etc. I don`t think it is a good thing to do. I never deep fry anyway
I must get one, one day.
Experiment on how to get proper crispy chips like they used to be.
I dont think many people do deep fat fry things so much now TD. We ditched our fryer some 25 years ago.

Instead we cook chips in the oven with a light oil spray mist and we grill anything else.
